This is not a defect. How to touch up these seams is explained in **[Why can I see light lines at the seams of my dark wallpaper?](https://support.meinewand.com/en/light-lines-at-the-seams-of-dark-wallpaper?hsLang=en)** #### The wall is wallpapered but some wallpaper seams are open. What can be done now to fix the mistake? Although there is no way to close the seam after drying, there are several ways to significantly improve the result afterwards. The main issue with an open wallpaper seam is usually that with coloured wallpaper the white background shows through or the white backing paper of the **[wallpaper](https://www.meinewand.com/en/wallpaper)** is visible. Therefore, you should try to match the backing paper and the background at the open seam to the colour of the wallpaper. We have had good experiences with coloured pencils or felt-tip pens as well as watercolour paint. ### **As a rule, these methods make the seam visually disappear.** #### Conceal open seams with coloured pencils or felt-tip pens Trace the seam with a coloured pencil or felt-tip pen in the appropriate colour. Important: test on an inconspicuous area beforehand. #### Conceal open seams with a watercolour paint box Even better results are usually achieved with a watercolour paint box. Paint over the seam with a fine brush in the appropriate colour, then wipe off the excess paint with a slightly damp cloth and carefully dry the seam area with a lint-free cloth. The excess paint was then removed from the seam with a damp cloth and the area was dried with a dry cloth. In this case, the seam was not open; only the white backing material of the non-woven wallpaper showed through. If this is the case, the seam can almost always be retouched perfectly. When hanging dark wallpaper while it is still damp, press it on only gently! The paint wiped away in the inside corner could be retouched with watercolour paint.
