Glue overturned
What does ‘sticking overturned’ mean?
‘upside down gluing’
In wallpaper application, the symbol with the two arrows pointing in different directions stands for ‘upside down gluing’. It means that every second strip is applied rotated by 180 degrees, i.e. glued ‘upside down’.
Why inverted gluing?
Wallpapers are applied upside down if their edges differ slightly in colour or texture due to the production process. These minor deviations are not noticeable when looking at the roll or when cutting and wallpapering. On the wall, however, the visual irregularities quickly catch the eye if the wallpaper is not applied in a tumbled manner, as the differences at the seams affect the overall appearance.
