Painting metal outdoors

We recommend the following coating structures for painting metal outdoors:

Preparation:

metal that has already been painted:
Sand down, remove any loose paint, sand off any visible rust

Raw metal:
Sand down, remove flash rust and rust

Galvanised metal:
Clean with a zinc cleaner

Coating systems

Water-based coating system

Advantages: easy processing, no odour nuisance

Primer: Brillux Lacryl Allgrund 246 white

1st and 2nd coat: Brillux Lacryl-PU Seidenmattlack 270 white or coloured

Solvent-based coating system
Advantages: better rust protection compared to the aqueous system

Primer:  Brillux Haftgrund 850

1st and 2nd coat: Brillux Impredur Seidenmattlack 880 or Brillux Buntlack Seidenmatt 134
