Wallpapering on latex paint or varnish

What needs to be considered when wallpapering if the substrate is a glossy latex paint or varnish

Substrate latex paint

If the substrate is painted with latex paint, a pigmented wallpaper primer should be applied first. For example, Pufas Tapetengrund weiß.
The wallpaper primer gives the substrate a uniform absorption capacity. The latex coating itself is not absorbent, which could lead to problems when wallpapering.
For a high-gloss latex paint, we also recommend light sanding with fine sandpaper (120-180 grit) before applying the wallpaper primer.
