Are MDF boards, chipboard or other wood-based materials suitable as a surface for wallpaper?

Wallpaper can be applied to wood-based materials. Before wallpapering, we recommend blocking off the wood-based material to prevent wood constituents from "bleeding through".

This "bleed-through" can later lead to discoloration of the wallpaper. Solvent-based products such as Brillux Adhesion Primer are suitable for sealing.

It should be noted that joints of wood materials cannot be reinforced. The joints must be force-locked and glued. Simply gluing is not sufficient.

Our non-woven wallpapers can bridge cracks to a certain extent, but it can also lead to creasing of the wallpaper in the seam area.
